Now that I've been able to read most of these, it's pretty striking how wide-ranging the critics' views are. (Just compare the last two in the list with each other.) Sounds like some reviewers were won over by the acting and saw the flaws as no big deal, and for others the performances were not enough to overcome the problems with the story and directing.
